Driver Critically Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Mitch Owens Road

A serious multi-vehicle collision on Mitch Owens Road early Monday morning has left one driver in critical condition and two others in serious but stable condition. The crash, which occurred around 7:25 a.m., involved a school bus and three pickup trucks, according to Ottawa police.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Ottawa firefighters reported that they had to extricate two individuals from a pickup truck that went into a ditch, as well as the driver of another pickup that had collided head-on with the school bus. The driver of that pickup was transported to hospital in critical condition.

The school bus, which was not carrying any children at the time, sustained significant damage, but its driver did not require hospitalization. The other truck driver and a passenger were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police confirmed that Mitch Owens Road remains closed between Bowesville and Manotick Station roads as investigators assess the scene. The accident occurred approximately seven kilometers south of the Ottawa International Airport and 20 kilometers from Parliament Hill.

Authorities have not yet released further details on the cause of the crash. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
